10G-THRU-16QP

Myri-10G "through" line card with 16 front-panel Myrinet-protocol QSFP ports

Qty:

The 10G-THRU-16QP line card does not contain a switch, but instead connects the 16 front-panel QSFP ports through low-latency signal buffering directly to the 16 backplane XAUI ports. Its only allowed use is paired with a switch line card (10G-SW32LC-*) in these switch enclosures:

  • 10G-21U-EDGE-ENCL slots 0-39
  • 10G-12U-EDGE-ENCL slots 0-19
  • 10G-7U-EDGE-ENCL slots 0-9

The 4 alignment pins for insertion into the enclosure backplanes are keyed to allow use of this line card only in port-line-card slots.

Specifications:

Front-panel network ports: 16 QSFP (Quad Small Form factor Pluggable) sockets for QSFP-terminated passive copper cables (10G-QC-xM), QSFP-terminated EOE cables (10G-QP-xM), or QSFP transceivers, 10+10 Gbit/s data rate, full-duplex, Myrinet protocols. The front-panel Each QSFP socket provides XAUI signaling per IEEE 802.3ae, the required electrical power, and the standard QSFP management interface. (See this Guide to Myri-10G PHYs (pdf).)

Laser Safety: When used with QSFP transceivers, this is a Class 1M Laser Product. Do not view optical-fiber ports directly with optical instruments.

Backplane ports: 16 Myrinet-protocol XAUI ports to the backplane.

Port labeling: The front-panel ports are labeled 16-31 corresponding to the port numbering of the switch with which this line card is paired.

Microcontroller functions: Self-test, board identification, voltage monitoring, temperature monitoring upstream & downstream in the air flow, and port monitoring and control. All status information is reported on demand through the serial link to a 10G-MONITOR-B monitoring line card. The µC will shut off the line-card power except for the µC section on over-temperature (greater than 55C) or other fault conditions.

Status LED: Located in the middle of the front panel: Off: not operating. Flashing Green: Initializing. Green: operating. Yellow: fault.

Power requirements: This line card consumes 24W typical plus any power delivered through the QSFP sockets. Myricom 10G-QC-xM copper cables do not consume power from the QSFP socket. After allowing for regulator efficiency (~0.9) on the switch line card, Myricom 10G-QP-xM EOE cables consume 1.1W typical for each cable. The line card is hot-swappable.

Power details: The line card is powered from +12V from the backplane power connector. The operating voltages for the components on the line card are derived by power conversion using switching regulators. The 12V current is 2A (24W) typical, 2.2A (26.4W) maximum, plus any power delivered to the QSFP sockets. The power delivered to the QSFP sockets is +3.3V. The maximum 3.3V current available at each of the 16 QSFP sockets is 0.5A (1.65W), 8A (26.4W) total, and the power-conversion efficiency from 12V to 3.3V is ~0.9. Typical power with 10G-QP-xM cables in all 16 QP ports is thus 41.6W.

Physical characteristics: Width is ~17 inches (432mm); depth is ~14 inches (356mm); height at the front panel is 0.8 inches (20.3mm), and weight is 0.9kg (2 pounds).

Environmental: Operating: Temperature 0C to 55C up to 10,000 foot altitude. Relative humidity 15% to 80% @ 50C, non-condensing. Storage: Temperature -40C to 70C. Relative humidity 90% @ 65C.

Regulatory Approvals: Fully compliant with EN55024 (1998 w/A1: 2001 & A2: 2003), EN55022 (1998) Class A, AS/NZS 3548 (1005 W/A1 & A2: 97) Class A, CISPR 22 (1997) Class A, FCC Part 15 Subpart B Section 15.109 Class A, VCCI (April 2000) Class A, & ICES-003 Class A (ANSI C63.4 1992). See the Index of Myri-10G Regulatory Reports.

Reduction of Hazardous Substances: This product is RoHS-compliant under the server exemption.

Note: A version of this product shipped prior to 27-March-2009 had the same function and product code, but did not have the capability of driving 10G-QC-xM passive copper cables.
